Seoul, November 1,2026 – SK Hynix has reported a dramatic surge in earnings, marking one of the strongest quarters in its history.
The South Korean chipmaker’s operating profit skyrocketed more than sevenfold to 83.3 trillion won ($62.7 billion) in the July September period, driven by booming demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure and rising memory chip prices.
Revenue climbed to 104.6 trillion won, a 328 percent increase from a year earlier, far surpassing market expectations.
The company’s results not only highlight the strength of the semiconductor cycle but also reinforce its position as a critical supplier to global AI leaders.

SK Hynix provides high bandwidth memory chips essential for advanced computing systems, with Nvidia among its key customers.
Analysts note that the firm’s ability to capitalize on AI driven demand has set it apart in a fiercely competitive industry.
In tandem with its earnings announcement, SK Hynix unveiled an unprecedented shareholder return program worth 100 trillion won (US$75.4 billion) for 2026.
The plan includes 30 trillion won in cash dividends and 60 trillion won in share buybacks and cancellations, building on a 40 trillion won buyback disclosed earlier this year.
The scale of the initiative places SK Hynix among the most stakeholder friendly companies in the semiconductor sector, reflecting confidence in sustained cash generation.
Looking ahead, the company projects memory demand will continue to outpace supply through 2030, fueled by global investment in AI infrastructure.
To secure long term growth, SK Hynix has signed contracts with 14 major customers, covering more than half of its production capacity for 2027 and 2028.
These agreements, typically spanning five years, provide rare visibility in an industry often defined by volatility.
Still, risks remain. The cyclical nature of memory pricing could pressure margins if demand softens, while geopolitical tensions and export restrictions pose challenges to supply chains.
Execution on long term contracts will require consistent innovation and operational efficiency.
For now, SK Hynix’s record breaking quarter and massive shareholder return plan underscore both the scale of AI’s impact on the semiconductor industry and the company’s determination to cement its role as a global leader.
Investors are watching closely, as the firm’s bold strategy may reshape expectations for capital returns across the sector.
