Seoul, Oktober 31, 2026 – Samsung Electronics has reported a historic third quarter operating profit of nearly US$80 billion, underscoring the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the global semiconductor industry.
The results mark one of the strongest earnings performances in corporate history, driven by unprecedented demand for advanced memory chips powering AI infrastructure worldwide.
The company announced operating profit of 107.4 trillion won (US$80.04 billion) for the July October period, a staggering leap from 12.2 trillion won a year earlier.
The surge reflects how AI adoption across cloud providers, data centers, and emerging startups has fueled a race for high performance chips, positioning Samsung at the center of the global technology supply chain.

Samsung also declared a dividend payout of 30 trillion won, equivalent to 4,601 won per share, signaling confidence in its financial strength and rewarding investors amid the boom.
Shares of Samsung and rival SK Hynix rose following the announcement, reinforcing optimism about South Korea’s dominance in the memory chip market.
Yet the company tempered its triumph with caution.
Executives warned that semiconductor shortages are likely to worsen in 2027, raising concerns about supply chain resilience and potential disruptions across industries reliant on chips, from automotive to consumer electronics.
Analysts noted that while the AI driven surge has delivered extraordinary profits, sustaining such momentum will require heavy capital investment and careful navigation of geopolitical tensions.
The earnings also highlight the broader strategic implications of the AI revolution.
South Korea’s government is expected to leverage Samsung’s success to strengthen its role in the global tech ecosystem, particularly as U.S. China competition intensifies over semiconductor supremacy.
For investors, the record breaking quarter underscores both opportunity and risk.
The AI infrastructure boom has created a lucrative market for chipmakers, but the warning of deepening shortages suggests volatility ahead.
As demand continues to soar, Samsung’s ability to balance expansion with supply chain stability will define its trajectory in the years to come.
Samsung’s results not only cement its leadership in the semiconductor sector but also reflect the shifting dynamics of global technology, where artificial intelligence is reshaping corporate fortunes and national strategies alike.
