Whasington, Oktober 19, 2026 – Bitcoin steadied above the $82,000 mark on October 19, 2026, as traders weighed persistent ETF outflows and broader macroeconomic jitters.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency rose 0.77% to $82,111, recovering from weekend lows near $81,000, while Ethereum slipped to $2,410, down nearly 5% over the past week.
The resilience in Bitcoin comes despite continued institutional retreat.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of $228 million last week, following $681 million the week before.

BlackRock’s IBIT alone saw $71.8 million in withdrawals on October 16, underscoring waning appetite among large funds.
Analysts note that ETF weakness has coincided with rising retail-driven selling, with exchanges reporting net inflows of 8,237 BTC last week often a precursor to short term liquidation.
Market sentiment remains cautious. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index slipped to 59 from 63, reflecting tempered optimism.
Liquidations totaled $49 million in the past 24 hours, with long positions accounting for 58%.
Traders are closely watching Bitcoin’s support zone between $81,300 and $81,500, a level seen as critical for sustaining rebound momentum.
Ethereum’s underperformance highlights shifting investor preference.
While Bitcoin has benefited from its perceived safe haven status within crypto, Ethereum’s weaker trajectory suggests investors are reluctant to add exposure amid regulatory uncertainty and declining risk appetite.
Macro conditions have added to the unease. U.S. tech stocks slumped last week, with the Nasdaq falling 4% and AI linked equities such as Dell and CoreWeave plunging more than 20%.
Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller’s comments, which eased fears of further rate hikes, provided some relief, helping Bitcoin stabilize.
Yet, dormant wallets have re-emerged as a source of speculation two long addresses moved 416 BTC worth $34 million after 12 years, raising concerns about potential selling pressure.
Regulatory developments are also in focus. MSCI’s new rules may force passive funds to divest from companies like MicroStrategy, whose balance sheet is heavily concentrated in Bitcoin.
Such moves could amplify volatility in the months ahead.
For now, Bitcoin’s ability to hold above $82,000 offers a measure of stability in an otherwise fragile market.
But with ETF outflows persisting, retail selling rising, and Ethereum lagging, traders remain wary of declaring a sustained recovery.
The next test lies in whether Bitcoin can defend its support zone or risk another slide in a market still searching for conviction.
